Bringing ethical research into action!

Hi Everyone!

Phil here, and I’m excited to announce a new development at Viable Insights. This summer we took the steps to register Viable Insights as an Institutional Review Board with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. This means that we are now able to help you ensure ethical practices are built into any research that you and your organization undertake.

Institutional Review Boards, or IRBs as they are referred to in the biz, are an essential safeguard for research participant rights, safety, and overall well being. These bodies are regulated and given authority by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to review human-subject research proposals and protocols and ensure that research procedures prioritize the protection of individuals that participate.

The majority of IRBs have historically been connected to traditional research entities – educational institutions and biomedical research facilities, however, there have been a growing number of private IRBs popping up as alternatives. These private IRBs are more accessible to those who want to do research but aren’t affiliated with the above two organization types. We are happy to report that Viable Insights has been approved by HHS to form an IRB, so beginning in October we are extremely excited to add that capacity to our services. If you are curious about what exactly this all means, drop us a line and we can grab a coffee to discuss!
